Corona Virus and the future of Pub Simulator
Good Evening all, I never thought I would ever have to write a blog post like this, but in the current climate, things are looking pretty scary for the whole of the world.
Due to the current climate, we are sorry to say but we will not be able to deliver the game this year, as the current situation is rapidly getting worse, we are having to cut back on our staff, due to the government's guidelines.
This doesn't just affect us, and this is what I want to talk about.
In the UK every 12 hours a pub is closing its doors for the final time, now this was before the coronavirus pandemic. Last year alone 378 pubs closed, the majority of them for the final time. The majority of closed pubs either get turned into flats or pulled down to make way for houses (Like the Old Pack Horse that features in our game).
The government's current guidelines on tackling this virus are certainly going to kill off a lot of pubs, and small businesses within the industry. Most people think the industry is just to do with beer and running a pub is easy, that is far from the fact, many pubs, including your local, will use a local DJ or an entertainment company, to provide things such as discos, pub quizzes and race nights. By Boris telling everyone to avoid Pubs, Clubs, and restaurants, he is essentially killing off the industry even more than what his predecessors did with the smoking ban, I for one as an ex-smoker and at the time a nonsmoker did not advocate for the smoking ban, I felt it added to the atmosphere of the establishment.
What I am saying is this, yeah this virus is deadly and has killed 1000's of people across the globe, But if you are of fit health and under the age of 65, please visit your local pub, support them, take hand sanitizer (if you have some after all the shops were raided of it and toilet roll). Support your local even if it's just for a quick pint. We have lost too many pubs to greedy breweries and developers (I would name one but I don't fancy a lawsuit on my hands). We as a company cannot simply digitize every pub and put them into pub simulator as much as we would love to.
SO PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL PUB.
AS THEY SAY, USE IT OR LOOSE IT.
No point in complaining that its shut if you don't go and use it.
